You will need:

String or yarn (any color) scissors
Crayons, markers, colored pencils, or paint glue or tape
Color all elements then cut out. If you want to line letters up straight across then cut a "flange" on the bottom of the stain glass element.

With the letters provided you can make either the word "Islam" or "Allah".

If you are making a double sided mobile you do not have to color the indentical elements that same way.

Single Sided

Tape or glue string to the back of all elements. Don't forget to tie a loop into the top string.
Double Sided

Create a "sandwich" by gluing the string in the back middle of indetical elements.

If you are wishing to add weight or additonal durability cut additional paper, construction paper or poster board to shape/size and glue in the middle of the sandwich. Make sure string/yarn is glued to it also.

B

You will need:

String or yarn (any color) Crayons, colored pencils, markers scissors
glue or tape
Color and cut out large heart element.

The smaller heart elements can be done in several ways. Either you can color the letters and arrange them in the words "Islam" and "Muslim", or you can use the empty boxes to spell what ever you wish, or you decorate all the hearts anyway you wish.

Try using different media.

Suggestions for blank hearts using something other than crayons, markers or colored pencils:

Use scraps of old wrapping paper to cover hearts. Draw sprials and other designs with a small bead of school glue. Cover bead with glitter. Color hearts using bright crayons and then paint with dark colored WATER colors.
Put little multi colored pieces of craft tissue paper covering heart. Sprinkle or gently paint with water until tissue it wet but not dripping. Let dry. Gently take tissue off. Glue on mutli colored sequin

Follow directions on Mobile "A" for finishing single and/or double sided mobiles.

C (The Family Mobile)

You will need:

String or yarn (any color) Crayons, colored pencils, markers scissors
glue or tape you may want to use construction paper
Depending on how you choose to complete this mobile you might need photographs of the child's family members. If you choose this option be sure the parents know that these picutres will be cut out.

Color the large heart element and give the ayat a bright background.

Family Mobile Options

Without Photographs

You may choose to use colored contruction paper or color the hearts.

Have the child write their name and families names (In English and Arabic) on the smaller heart elements. One person per element.

If you are making a one sided mobile write the English and Arabic names one above the other. If you are making a two sided mobile write the English name on one side and Arabic on the other.
With Photographs

Cut the picture of the person out of the photograph and position on the heart element and glue in place.

Write their name below the photograph if doing a one sided mobile. Write name on the back element if doing a two sided element.
To finish refer to the one sided and two sided directions for mobile "A".

Hajj/Umrah Mobile

You will need:

Crayons
Washable paints (such as water colors)
Large Paper Clip
String or Yarn
Paper Hole Punch
Scissors
Tape (white, cellophane, or masking) Glue
Paper plate (cheap ones will do nicely)
You may want to use poster board to give added weight to elements.

Directions:

Paint paper plate blue on boths sides and allow to dry fully. Color the letter elements that spell "Hajj" and "Umrah" (Hajj/Umrah mobile sheet 1 ) also color the spacer squares. Color 2 sets if you are making a two sided mobile. Cut out picutre of Kaba (cut out 2 if making a double sided mobile). Bend out large paper clip so you have a hook at either end.

Cut 11 pieces of string or yarn about 6 inches apiece. Tape of glue on end to the back of the Hajj/Umrah elements. Or if making a double sided mobile, tape or glue the string to the middle of the sandwich.

Using paper hole punch, punch out 11 evenly spaced holes on outside edge of plate. Then punch hole in center of dry paper plate only large enought to "thread" paper clip through. Thread the open paper clip through the center hole in the plate. You may need to open one hook end to get the paper plate on and then bend it back into shape. Line paper plate up so that it sits half way between the "hooks" of the paper clip.

Using your tape, wrap tape around paper clip UNDER paper plate. This is to prevent the plate from sliding down the clip any further. Paper plate should then be able to "spin" using the paper clip as it's axis. If it doesn't spin check to make sure there in enough room between the paper clip and plate and/or that the tape isn't touching the plate, or that paper clip is not itself impeeding motion.

Glue or tape the picture of the Kaba to the hook that sits below the tape on the paper clip. Arranging your letter elements so that they spell "Hajj" and "Umrah" with a space square in between tie the string onto the plate throught the holes on the outer edge. One letter per hole.
