MHSNR Spring Wall Hanging Instructions

You will need:

  • Brown TEMPRA paint
  • Craft grade tissue paper, bright multi colors
  • plastic or paper straw
  • 1 piece of white construction paper (cut of two inches from the top and two inches from the left side-- cut a straight line)
  • 1 piece of construction paper either dark or brilliant color (avoid yellow, and light green)
  • white school glue

Setting the piece of white construction paper so that the longest side is vertical place a small pool of brown Tempra paint in the center about a 1/4 to 1/2 inches from the bottom of the sheet.

Using straw, blow the pool of paint upward to make branches and stems of the bush. Stop often in the midst of one branch and blow in a different directions to create off shoot branches.BLOW GENTLY.

Let dry.

While drying select the colors of tissue paper for the flower buds growing on the bush. Either selction of one color or multi color flowers is fine and should be the decision of the person making the wall hanging.
Tear off pieces of tissue paper and roll into a ball (You may want to have a DRY, empty paper cup handy to collect your buds.) Peices should be no greater in size than one inch square.

Once the branches are dry dab a small/tiny bead of glue by or on a branch then place a rolled tissue bud on the glue. Cover the branches of the bush this way.

Let dry.

Once dry take second piece of construction paper and glue to the back of the white construction paper. This creates the frame. You may also wish to glue an ayat to the top of the wall hanging if there is room.

Masjids at Night

You will need:

  • White construction paper or white multi purpose paper
  • wax crayons
  • plenty of black or dark blue WATER COLOR.
  • paint brushes

Ask the children to draw and color in their ideas for a masjid. Also they should draw stars in the sky and color them in. They should not color the skiy in. When coloring is completed paint over picture with water color.

The water in the watercolor paint will separate from the wax in the crayons. It will adhere to the paper beneath. It is alright to see black streaks within the colored surface. It means that it wasn't colored in as heavily as other areas.
