Celebrating the creativity Allah(swt) gifted human beings.
A gift He gave no other in His creation.
We want submissions for Muslim kids ages six(6) to eighteen(18)! The poetry they've written, the short stories they've written, haiku, short verse or essay!
These submissions will be reviewed for inclusion in "The Faithful Heart" a literature compilation by and for Muslim children, Islamic schools and homeschools.
These compilations will be sold to Islamic schools, Muslim homeschools and children and families by prior order (information, and order form forthcoming). No extra copies will be made
All submissions become the property of MHSNR and cannot be returned (only submit a photocopy). However, after publication copyright of each piece of literature returns to the writer.
Submission Rules: writing | artwork
1. Submissions are only accepted from children ages six (6) to eighteen(18).
2. Only original work will be accepted.
3. All literature must be submitted on hard copy (paper). Email, fax, floppy disk or email appended files will not be accepted.
4. Material must be typewritten on white un-lined (plain) paper. No hand written material will be accepted.
5. Paper size can be no greater the 8.5 inches by 11 inches with a 1 1/2 inch
margin on all sides.(top, bottom and both sides).
6. All fonts acceptable as long as they are easily readable. Pitch can be no
smaller than 10 and no greater than 14.
7. Short stories cannot exceed three (3) pages in length. Essays cannot exceed two (2) pages in length. Poetry cannot exceed one (1) page in length.
8. Material will only be considered if written in English.
9. Material reviewers will not edit work or correct spelling. Submissions may be rejected for reasons of misspelled words, words left out of sentences and/or sentences/paragraphs that do not make sense. Though it is understand that bad grammar can be a literary tool, such usage must fit the work. PLEASE proof read all work sent in.
10. Submitted material deemed inappropriate will not be included in the compilation.
11. Though submitted material may deal with dark subjects such as suicide, terrorism, etc. the work itself must not transcend the bounds of Islamic adab.
12. Literature and Arts submissions are limited only to residents of the USA
and Canada

4. We are not printing this issue in color. All submitted artwork must be in gray scale.on white, unlined (plain) paper.
5. Artwork can be any size but must not exceed 8.5 inches by 11 inches, with a 1 1/2 inch margin all the way around (top, bottom and both sides).
6. Artwork must be sent unfolded in a large envelope.
7. If using charcoal or other media that rubs off, please send photocopy.
8. Artwork must have artist "signature" some where in the piece.
9. Submitted material deemed inappropriate will not be included in the compilation.
10. Artwork must not transcend the bounds of Islamic adab.
11. Literature and Arts submissions are limited only to residents of the USA and Canada

All submitted material must contain the following information on the back of the artwork in the upper left corner of the paper, in the following format:
*If military personal and residing outside of the US or Canada, simply put
the country where you are currently living.
All submitted material becomes the property of MSHNR. Writers, authors, artists
maintain copyright.
If you are submitting as part of a school project please follow the directions of your teacher. Schools are asked to submit all material in one bundle.
